What is the Black Woods Blizzard Tour?

The Black Woods Blizzard Tour is 3-day snowmobile ride and fundraiser for The ALS Association, MN/ND/SD Chapter.  The Tour's motto is to 'Never Surrender.'  This ride to fight ALS helps people with ALS and their families in our service area. 

The Black Woods Blizzard Tour starts with a reception at the Black Woods Grill and Bar in Proctor, MN on Wednesday evening, February 7, 2018. After a night's stay at the local AmericInn and Best Western, riders depart Thursday morning for Lake Vermilion where they enjoy dinner and accommodations at Fortune Bay Resort & Casino.  On Friday morning participants ride down the scenic North Shore to Two Harbors where Black Woods Grill & Bar hosts dinner.  Riders spend the night and return to Proctor on Saturday, February 10. Buses transport riders for a welcome home Celebration Dinner hosted by Black Woods at Cirrus Aircraft.

Who can ride?

Riders must be at least 21 years of age and willing to donate or fundraise.  The money raised will help people living with ALS.  Click here to see the Chapter's services.

The ride is for experienced riders (riding up to 150 miles each of the first two days and 80 miles the last day).  Speeds average 40 mph during the trip. 

Registration is required. There are incentive prizes for participants.  To qualify for these prizes, including a chance to win a Polaris ATV, you must have all donations turned in to The ALS Association by February 1, 2018.


What Is Provided For You on the Tour?

The ALS Association and Black Woods Blizzard Tour sponsors will provide:

  • Fuel and oil during the Tour (Please arrive with a full tank of fuel and top off your oil)

  • Double occupancy lodging up to four nights with another rider or volunteer. The last night of the event is Saturday, February 10. If you have a guest coming to the Celebration Dinner and you would like to have them stay with you in the hotel, let Sandy know of your request. You will be sent an invoice for one-half of the room cost AFTER the event, when the hotel sends billing to The ALS Association. 

  • Basic mechanical support and limited alternate sleds and trailer in case of unfixable breakdown

  • All meals during the Tour.  Saturday night Celebration Dinner seating will be dependent on our guests.  Guests will be asked for their seating companion names during dinner reservations. Please stay tuned for more information on reserving your seat and informing us of your seating preferences.
