Kent Hrbek has been committed to ALS research and helping people with the disease  since his father, Ed Hrbek, died of ALS in 1982. Kent and Jeanie Hrbek have helped fund ALS programs. They've donated their time visiting people with ALS, organizing fund raisers and serving as honorary chairs for The ALS Association, MN/ND/SD Chapter. Kent has retired from the field, but will not retire against the fight against ALS until there is a cure.

Darby Hendrickson, a former Minnesota Wild player, is now their assistant coach. He stays involved in an event he witnessed out the windows of his summer residence on Island Lake. The event is the ALS Fishing Tournament. Darby is thrilled to join the celebrity line-up for the event and do his part to help rally support to find a cure for ALS.

As a professional hockey player, Jim had the opportunity to be involved in a number of great causes. He had a friend diagnosed with ALS, and felt compelled to help start the ALS Fishing Tournament held in Duluth. As an outdoor enthusiast, he looks forward to returning to Duluth for this great event each year.
