Why We Fish!

The Kolar Toyota ALS Fishing Tournament started in 1995 by family and friends of Kevin Kolquist. Kevin had been diagnosed with ALS and they wanted to do something to make a difference. The tournament has grown from that very first tournament. All proceeds from the event go to The ALS Association, MN/ND/SD Chapter.

That first year, the tournament raised $43,000. Since then, we've raised $2.9 million.

The ALS Association, MN/ND/SD is the only non-profit organization fighting Lou Gehrig’s Disease on every front. By leading the way in global research, providing assistance for people with ALS through a nationwide network of chapters, coordinating multidisciplinary care through certified clinical care centers, and fostering government partnerships, The Association builds hope and enhances quality of life while aggressively searching for new treatments and a cure.

Each year, the Kolar Toyota ALS Fishing Tournament brings communities together in the fight against Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Though we participate for various reasons, we are united in our quest to find a Cast for a Cause!
