Dear Friends,
Three and a half years ago, my sister Mary Jo was diagnosed with ALS. This is a progressive and fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs people of their ability to walk, speak, swallow, and eventually even their ability to breathe. Presently, there is no known cause or cure for this terrible disease.
At this time, my sister Mary Jo can still breathe, speak, and feed herself – albeit with great difficulty. The pandemic further complicated this already difficult situation, as most of us could only watch from the sidelines when our sister and her family needed our help.
The ALS Association has been with Mary Jo, every step of the way. They have provided avenues for emotional support and logistical guidance, as her needs evolve, but they have also donated most of the essential equipment my sister depends on every day.
Please join me in supporting the ALS Association by sponsoring our walk on September 11th. There are many other families just like ours who are suffering through ALS. Your donation can have a profound impact on their lives and ours.
I am so grateful for any support and prayers you are able offer.
Thank you so much,
Nell Hanson
