My brother, Tim, lost his 2.5 year battle with ALS on August 8,
2017 but we can still continue to fight this debilitating disease for

This year's Walk to Defeat ALS events are still happening, but will look
a little different from what we've done in the past. Due to COVID-19,
our the Walk will not include an in-person event, but instead a Walk
Your Way. Walk Your Way has many options! The RUNTMC group is even too big to hold our own mini-walk so we encourage smaller groups to take a walk or ride around your neighborhood, nearby park or living room. Whatever works for you!

Why We Need Your Help

Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.

Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.

As we experienced, this crippling disease can strike anyone at any time. Presently there is no known cause of the disease though support is bringing researchers closer to an answer. In the mean time it costs an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need.
