New Home Modification Webinar

Home accessibility and modifications contribute to the quality of life for individuals living with ALS and their families.  Home modifications often provide greater independence for the person with ALS and make care giving easier for family members.  In this webinar viewers will learn about a variety of simple to complex ways to modify a home environment. The Chapter also has a resource list of companies who will   provide services for accessibility  remodeling and/or lift installation.  Equipment described in this webinar is also typically available through our equipment loan pool. 

Traveling with a Disability

Tim Holtz, President of Dignity Travel, formerly of Flying Wheels Travel, provides many tips for traveling with a disability or chronic illness.  He walks through the process from planning a trip, booking a hotel, renting a car, and pacing oneself during travels.  This WebEx recording includes a power point presentation and video of Jennifer Myhre, LICSW, Care Services Coordinator with Tim Holtz. The ALS Association MN/ND/SD Chapter Lifesprk In-Service Video

Click here to see a five-minute summary of the Chapter’s in-service on ALS.  This video/DVD features the Chapter’s Care Services staff speaking about the identification, progression, and standards of care for individuals with ALS, and resources available to them through The ALS Association, Minnesota/North Dakota/South Dakota Chapter. You can view the video on-line by clicking the videos below or you can check out a DVD from the chapter.

This DVD was developed in collaboration with Lifesprk (Edina, MN) , who generously filmed and edited it for distribution.  This 2 hour- long DVD is available to home health care agencies, assisted living and skilled nursing facilities and is to be used for staff training.  The first hour of the DVD addresses the disease process and care.  The second hour addresses the resources available to individuals with ALS and their families through The ALS Association, MN/ND/SD Chapter. Care Services staff are available to answer any questions that arise after viewing the DVD.
